Client: Freetown City Council
Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone
Service: Website Design & Development
Year: 2018

Project Background

Freetown City Council (FCC) is the governing body for the capital of Sierra Leone, overseeing urban planning, waste management, education, sanitation, and civic services. As the city modernizes and its population grows, FCC recognized the need for a strong digital presence to improve access to services, boost transparency, and enhance citizen engagement.

Our Role

Afro Technology & Logistics was selected to design and develop a new official website for FCC — a platform that would represent the council’s work, streamline public access to information, and support its growing portfolio of programs and departments.

What We Delivered

  • Modern, Responsive Design
A clean, functional layout optimized for all devices, reflecting FCC’s modern civic brand while ensuring accessibility across the city’s diverse user base.
  • Multi-Departmental Structure
We built a modular site architecture that allows each FCC department to manage and update their own sections independently.
  • Content Management System (CMS)
Implemented a robust backend that enables non-technical staff to easily publish updates, service information, and reports.
  • Service Directory & Downloads
Included key public resources such as service request forms, guidelines, downloadable documents, and notices.
  • News & Media Section
A central place for press releases, announcements, and visual coverage of FCC events and initiatives.

Key Features

  • Departmental landing pages
  • Mayor’s message and leadership bios
  • Reports, budgets, and strategic plan uploads
  • Event calendar and notices
  • Mobile optimization and SEO-ready content

Impact

The new FCC website has significantly improved the council’s ability to communicate with residents, partners, and the global community. It now functions as a digital hub for governance transparency, civic participation, and service delivery — positioning Freetown as a model for digital transformation in local government across West Africa.
