Project Background

Freetown the Treetown is an urban reforestation campaign launched by the Freetown City Council to address deforestation, urban heat, and climate vulnerability in Sierra Leone’s capital. The initiative aims to plant, track, and nurture over a million trees, with strong emphasis on community engagement and environmental sustainability.


Our Role

Afro Technology & Logistics was contracted to design and develop the official website for the Freetown the Treetown campaign. Our goal was to create a digital platform that clearly communicates the mission, fosters public engagement, and serves as a reliable source of information for stakeholders and supporters.


What We Delivered

  • Custom UI/UX Design
    A visually engaging and mobile-responsive design that reflects the environmental theme of the project and offers intuitive navigation for all users.
  • Content Management System (CMS)
    We deployed a user-friendly backend interface, empowering the FCC team to independently manage blog updates, publish news stories, and share planting progress.
  • Seamless Integration Support
    While the tree tracking functionality was developed by another team, we facilitated smooth linking and transition from the website to the external Tree Tracker platform.
  • Hosting & Technical Support
    We provided deployment support and ensured the platform met performance and security requirements.
